Hitachi-style Powermax Plus starters are lightweight, yet powerful and may be set-up for maximum header and oil pan clearance. Starters are offered in three versions; 160 ft./lbs., 170 ft./lbs. and 180 ft./lbs. The 160 ft./lb. units weigh just 7-1/4 lbs., include 6:1 gear reduction, 1.7 HP electric motors, sufficient to start engines with up to 11:1 compression ratios. The 170 ft./lbs. models weigh 10-1/2 lbs., have 3.7:1 gear reduction, 1.9 HP electric motors and are powerful enough to start engines with up to 14:1 compression ratios. Top-of-the line 180 ft./lbs. units weigh 11-1/4 lbs., utilize 3.7:1 gear reduction, 2.5 HP electric motors and are capable of starting engines with up to 16:1 compression ratios.
